Wood Storage Shed Plans

There are shed kits that do not come complete with everything you will need to build your shed. Some only come with the hardware you will need and a list of materials for the project.  You will then need to purchase your materials and cut your wood to size before you can begin building.

Then there are the kits that come with everything you need, including all the wood.  These kits come with the material already precut, all you have to do is have the necessary tools and start building.  If you are limited on time or maybe you are not comfortable with measuring and cutting the wood, then this is a great option.

One of the factors most people don’t really think about when they are considering adding a backyard storage shed is the foundation.  Having the proper foundation is very important, it will make your shed more stable and safe and make your investment last for years.

Before purchasing your shed building kit, it is important to check out the local building codes in your area to see if you need a permit and to see what type foundation will be required for the shed you want to build.  If you are part of a homeowners association, you will also need to submit your plans to the association for approval.

When you are budgeting for your storage shed, don’t forget to allow for the finish of your choice, paint or stain.  The material in wood shed kits comes unfinished, so once you have finished assembling your shed, it will need to be painted. It is always a good idea to use a good quality primer and paint, the paint will last longer and will help protect your investment.
